America Veterans Alliance Network Inc. campaign for Sustainable Housing Denver, CO Begins
BH-1 Expected to Further Sustain homeless/transitional rate
Denver — January 21, 2017 — Today at AVAN (“America Veterans Alliance Network”) office announced first sustainable housing initiative for homeless Veterans in Colorado. With the BackHome Initiative, we are just not setting the standards but we are also giving back to those who once protected us. “We are aiming to become a Nationwide Veteran Service Organization, with the desire to cultivate and elevate many lives as possible”, said Jonathan Gilmore, Executive Director. AVAN is truly a remarkable organization, throughout the office a feeling of joy and happiness was around. “We need for our Veterans that can be, to be rehabilitated, re-educated, and some time is needed for these individuals, and with proper care by becoming a Veteran Service Organization, and through community support we can all make this Nationwide effort a success”, said Cory Tutaj, Director at AVAN .
Taking it back to the ground roots and giving mean where it belongs. This is a nationwide effort to create sustainable living for Veterans through a strategic process. “This process will come from our efforts with legal assistance for pro bono services, with VSO accreditation by the VA, we are attempting to connect with local University chapters for mental health needs. We’ve thought about this, to include those who have lesser discharge characteristic”, Gilmore said. The following comment echoed through the facility “We need to get our service members who are struggling back to the Be, Know, do” said Tutaj.
In the closing remarks, “We are not asking for hundreds of dollars at a time, but what we are asking is that small item such as coffee, tea, cigarettes, milk shakes whatever that small dollar amount is, think of what that amount could do for our Veterans in the future”, Gilmore said. AVAN will continue to promote the initiative for the next four months as the organization goal is to acquire no later than August 2017. In closing remarks “This is the time, we all fall down but now it’s time to rise and stand-up” Gilmore said.
